While I was on Tour…
I had practically reached the end of my cycling tour, riding from the UK to Cape Town in South Africa when I had an email ping in and ask me if I’d be willing to be interviewed for a Ride cycling Magazine in South Africa. Tim the editor of the magazine had been at the Cape Rouleur where I had been kindly invited to the ride the prologue and Sven of Hot Chillee who organise the event amongst other ProAm cycling events had told Tim about my cycle ride.
Tim suggested we meet in a café not far from where I was staying in Cape Town. Brunch and coffee were kindly supplied by Tim or the magazine and after my interviewer had dealt with some street guy claiming his wife had been abducted by aliens or some other such off the wall story we chewed the fat over routes, reasons why and the logistics of taking on a 10 month cycling trip to Cape Town.
I was sent the draft copy not long after the interview, this guy’s good at his job, he actually made me sound interesting…
It started something like this:
“There Once Was A Man from Devizes… What makes a good man, with a good job, a comfortable life and burgeoning racing pedigree pack it all in and ride through Africa? And where do we sign on…
By Tim Brink”
Tim’s finished article can be downloaded here. Not sure where the Race Pedigree came from, artistic licence 🙂
